My name is Sheen Andola and I am a wedding photographer based in Ottawa, Canada. I live in the suburbs of this great city with my awesome partner-in-crime, Michael, along with our adorably mischievous corgi, Drogo (named after the great Khral Drogo himself). When not photographing weddings, we love to play beach volleyball, board games, and waking up early.
No doubt you’ve read several bios of wedding photographers, telling you how much they love taking wedding photos, and that’s great! But I want to tell you my “why.” When my parents got married, it was a very low-key, informal wedding. They were surrounded by a small group of friends and family, but they did not have a wedding photographer – or anyone with a camera for that matter! They are now in their 30th year of marriage and they’ve had many photos together taken since then, but none from that special day on which so much of their lives, including mine, began. Now in the midst of planning our own wedding, Michael and I truly understand the value of and the need for being able to document and preserve our special day.
My approach to wedding photography is simple: capture the moments to tell your love story. While story-telling is my priority on your wedding day, I also believe in an artistic approach to story-telling – this means great composition, prompted poses, and use of contrasting and dramatic lighting. There is no reason why your “getting ready” images or your reception scenes can’t be as artistic as your wedding portraiture.
I love to work with couples who value the importance of photography in telling their story as much as I do. If you are that couple, I can’t wait to work with you!
